Program Updates
March 9, 2025

Purim at Migdal Ohr is more than just a holiday—it is a celebration of unity, generosity, and joy, where students take an active role in making a difference in their communities. This year, teens from the Zoharim Youth Village, Ohr Yisraeli youth groups, and Migdal Ohr schools created unforgettable experiences for children, families, and even the elderly, embodying the true spirit of Purim.

Zoharim Purim Carnival for Children and Families from the Surrounding Areas

One of the highlights of this year’s Purim celebrations was the Purim Carnival & Market at the Zoharim Youth Village, an incredible event planned and executed by the proactive teens of the village. Over 500 children and parents from neighboring communities attended the event, enjoying a festive atmosphere filled with activity booths, a horse show, crafts, face painting, games, and food stalls.

The students worked tirelessly to bring their vision to life, raising funds by selling raffle tickets, securing donations for prizes, and negotiating with suppliers. Their efforts not only created an exciting and inclusive event but also taught them valuable life lessons.

Sarah Gabay, who oversaw the event, shared:

“The students are learning incredible life lessons during their teen years! They're taking initiative, planning, overcoming unexpected challenges, and working together. These are skills that they'll need as leaders in future roles, and they are so eager and so prepared to go out in service of Israel!”

This initiative wasn’t just about one event—it was about instilling values of leadership, responsibility, and giving back, reinforcing the commitment to their communities and the future of Israel.

Across Migdal Ohr’s elementary and middle schools, Purim carnivals brought children a sense of joy and excitement, reminding them how much their community cared about them. The campus came alive with vibrant costumes, festive parades, and engaging activities that created lasting memories for students and educators alike.

Acts of Kindness: Ohr Yisraeli Distributes Mishloach Manot for Families in Need

Purim is a time for giving, and the teens of Ohr Yisraeli in Pedaya fully embraced this mitzvah. They packed and delivered Mishloach Manot (gift baskets) for their parents, along with heartfelt notes of gratitude and love. This act of giving extended beyond families—youth branches throughout Israel were busy preparing packages for elderly neighbors and families in need, demonstrating the value of generosity and care for others.

Zoharim Teens Bringing Purim Cheer to Nursing Home Residents

In yet another heartwarming initiative, teens from the Zoharim Youth Village spent time at a local nursing home, bringing music, dancing, and smiles to the elderly residents. The joy and laughter shared during the Purim party lifted spirits and reinforced the importance of community and connection across generations.

The Purim celebrations at Migdal Ohr are a testament to the values that guide these young leaders. Through organizing events, delivering gifts, and bringing joy to others, they are not only experiencing the holiday but truly embodying its deeper meaning.

Thank you to everyone who makes these programs possible—your support helps nurture the next generation of leaders and instills in them the values of kindness, initiative, and community service. Happy Purim!
