January 25, 2024

Today, everyone at Migdal Ohr celebrated the first signs of spring with the holiday of Tu B'Shvat - the Jewish New Year of the trees!

Though we can't see it, the sap is beginning to rise inside of the trees and nature is stirring from its slumber. Just like Tu B'Shvat, the children at Migdal Ohr remind us of Israel's bright future and all of the good that is to come from these difficult times.

We hope that seeing their sweet faces as they learn about the fruits of the land give you a boost of optimism and hope for the future!

Tu B’Shvat Fruit Carving Competition at the Zoharim Youth Village

No one's too old to get into the Tu B'Shvat spirit! The teenage boys at our Zoharim Youth Village spent the afternoon carving fruits in a fruit platter competition.

Having come from the streets, many of these young men have struggled to find productive outlets for their talents. Zoharim is a positive place that embraces them and shows them a different path. Here, they find family, acceptance, and the kind of guidance and love that helps them get their lives back on track.

Which of these fruit platters is your favorite? We had a hard time choosing ours!

Middle School Girls Day of Volunteering with Seniors in Honor of Tu B’Shvat

The girls from Migdal Ohr's Orot B'Emek Middle School spent a beautiful afternoon at a local senior center leading workshops for Tu B'Shvat (the Jewish New Year of the trees).

The elderly residents got so much joy interacting with the girls and getting to do something creative with their hands.

As you can see, they had a wonderful afternoon together!
